About

Euromelanoma was started in 1999 by a Belgian group of dermatologists led by Dr Thomas Maselis. This initiative, which has the main goal of primary and secondary prevention of melanoma and other skin cancers, has spread since then to a large part of Europe. Today, 30 countries participate, the most recent addition being Estonia. Professor Véronique del Marmol (Belgium) is the current European chair.

Different publications have been written about the Euromelanoma days in different countries. We are busy publishing the data of 60 000 screenees. The data center is located in the epidemiology center at Erasmus University in Rotterdam (NL).

In each country a Euromelanoma task force has been created and a Euromelanoma day has been initiated, which is mainly associated with a screening day. More than 260 000 persons have been screened through this initiative as a free contribution from European dermatologists.

This initiative is in close collaboration with the European Association of Dermatology and Venerology (EADV).
